Variation

Changing who the beneficiaries to the estate are. E.g., one beneficiary decides that they would prefer their share of the inheritance (or part of it) to go to someone else. Variation can apply both in intestacy and where there is a Will.

Vested legacy

A legacy in a Will that is expressed as taking effect on a child’s attaining 18. The legacy forms part of the child’s property.
