How to answer this question in the online Will interview

Your Will is your own expression of wishes and you are free to make your own choices in terms of who you wish to inherit your estate. However, these need to be carefully considered and informed choices.

You will be asked in the interview whether you are planning to leave anyone out of your Will who might think you should be leaving something to them. This could be partners, children or anyone who is financially dependent on you.

If you select yes, it's important this is discussed during your legal appointment as where this is not considered carefully the Will could be challenged on your death by those left out under what is known as the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.

It is also important to be clear on whether you have children/ step children and whether they are over/ under the age of 18. We will also ask you to confirm ages during the legal appointment and to confirm whether you are making any provision for them in your Will; and potentially if not, will also consider with you the reasonableness of that to try and avoid a potential challenge in the future.

The same is also true in relation to former partners/ spouses/ civil partners and also new/ current relationships. When answering this question it is important to be fully transparent and honest about your relationship position so we can best advise you how to proceed.
